Health Care Service

The network of health care facilities comprises:

  • - central regional hospital for 185 beds (the surgical department – 50 beds, the gynecology unit – 10, the maternity ward – 15, the therapeutics department – 30, the cardiology unit – 45, the neurology unit – 20, the children’s department – 25, the infectious ward – 20 and the intensive care unit – 6 beds).
  • - regional out-patients' clinic for 375 visits a shift with the day patient facility for 25 beds. It is a multifield hospital fitted with modern medical and diagnostic equipment.
  • - Glinische nursing hospital for 10 beds with an ambulance station for 50 visits a shift
  • - rural ambulance stations in the settlements of Strelichevo and Sudkovo for 50 visits a shift each
  • - rural general ambulance station (the village of Velikiy Bor)
  • -17 medical stations
  • - one aid post

In line with the village revival program for 2005-2010 five agro-towns will be set up in the region, which will have four ambulance stations with nursing hospitals and medical stations.

Some 25 doctors (45.5 per cent) are highly qualified personnel and 193 specialists (67 per cent) are paramedical personnel.

The development of the health care system aims to improve the state of health of the local population, to enhance the quality of medical services and satisfy the needs of the population in these services complying with the principles of succession and accessibility.
